Read: Acts 27:1-44

  1. Ice-breaker: Have you ever experienced the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit to take a step of faith in a relationship, job, or opportunity to witness? What happened?
  2. Discuss: “Clarity from God is the byproduct of proximity to God.” & “The fight for your inner peace is the fight for your awareness of God's presence.”
    1. The daily moments of our lives matter beyond a quick quiet time. How can you take a step to dial down the wrong inputs and turn up the right inputs?
  3. Do you notice a difference when you’re walking “in the flesh” and when you’re walking “in the Spirit?” Think about how you respond, your state of mind, how you act. What are the differences you notice?
  4. What steps in your everyday life can you take to anchor yourself in the three ways according to verses 23-25? (Think spaces, practices, people, rhythms, etc.)
    1. The anchor of belonging to God - “The God to whom I belong”
    2. The anchor of service to God - “The God to whom I serve”
    3. The anchor of faith in God - “I have faith in God that it will happen just as He told me”

Challenge: Solitude. Get alone with God for a prolonged period of time. Ideally without your phone or other devices. Consider space for silence, worship, prayer, scripture, and journaling. Ask God to provide you insight into your inner world, the distractions in your life, and practices you can engage in daily and weekly to anchor yourself in life in God.
